Brum
Visited Birmingham for the first time ever on thursday.
Met up with Andrew who owns Darkhorse clothing, and we had a few pints, grabbed some food and had a little look about the city. Thanks for hooking up Andrew and showing me about.
Unfortunately I didn't take any photo's of us both drinking and eating as that would be shit. So here are a few images of what they are about

Took a couple of images of stuff that I found interesting though.(Not that Andrew wasn't interesting!!)

Then on friday I went to meet my printer Gerv from Mission Print. We spoke for a while about printing etc and then I was lucky enough to have a look around and had the chance to meet Dave who was in the process of printing some garments.

It's the end of Streetwear....
...As we know it!!
I've held back for ages now not to post the following. But now I can't help myself. Apologies if I upset a few people but if you are a well established "Streetwear" brand and have the nerve to release such designs then IMO you have to be ready for some negative response.
I never really understood the whole Streetwear market/association and from early on with Retreat I wanted to distant myself and the brand from this manufactured scene.
Checkout the following designs. These are offerings from brands which as far as i know are making a more than comfortable living from this, and what's worse is kids queue up for hours to buy them. Some of the designs literally will take 5 mins to complete in PS (including scanning in the original image).
I'm not having a go directly at the brands whose designs I have chosen as examples for this post, but it makes me feel sad that obviously they don't really care for the industry and are only in this for the money!!
I could go on but I'm starting to bore myself writing this.
At the end of the day, if these brands are comfortable with releasing these designs, then fair play to them. They are established enough to know kids will buy them.
But how many of them really care about who wears their brand and how many of them are truely concerned with say the print quality of each garment???
Feel free to call yourself "Streetwear", but please don't call yourselves designers.
Rant over.
